Quebec Winter Carnival is Packed with Festivities

The 56th presentation of the Québec Winter Carnival in collaboration with Loto-Québec will be marked by a festive atmosphere featuring music and dance. From Jan. 29 to Feb. 14, the public is invited to experience the effervescence of the Carnival with evenings under the stars and exhilarating dance shows: breakdancing, cheerleading, salsa, martial arts, folklore and many others. Carnival-goers will be swept up in the rhythm of workouts, choreographies, variety shows and much more.

Throughout the 17 days of festivities, the public can enjoy a wide variety of original activities for the whole family, such as sleigh rides, the St. Hubert Derby, the Royal Canine Dog Agility Competition, dog sledding, and Mr. Christie/KRAFT Village. They can also admire the majestic Ice Palace at Place Loto-Québec, home of Bonhomme Carnaval himself, works of art at the Painting Symposium, and of course, sculptures at the TELUS International Snow Sculpture Competition. Extreme sporting events, such as the Dogsled Race, the Canoe Race, the Snow Bath, the WestJet Zipline, and KRAFT Snow Rafting are sure to delight participants.

With the charms of Québec City as a backdrop, this year the Carnival will again be offering a wide variety of activities for nightlife enthusiasts, such as the SAQ Bistro, the Night Parades in collaboration with Loto-Québec, Arctic Spa Village, and Loto-Québec events, where musicians and DJs will get visitors shimmying and shaking! In 2010, the Québec Winter Carnival innovates with new activities that promise to make the winter experience even more sensational. “New financing granted to our event will allow us to offer a variety of high-quality interactive activities designed for carnival-goers from around the world,” stated André Roy, president of the Québec Winter Carnival.

This year’s distinctive and daring programming will definitely get the public’s toes tapping. Prepare to move and celebrate to the music, because the 2010 Carnival will make you dance! For more information, call 1-866-422-7628 or visit carnaval.qc.ca.
